Bubble Boy!

Similar to John Travolta in the 70's movie, The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, Charlie was enclosed in a similar apparatus on Monday.  Sunday afternoon Charlie's oxygen level was brought down to 1% but was having quite a bit of difficulty sustaining that level.  He was later bumped up to 2% - where he had been previously.  We were surprised to find him Tuesday morning, nasal canula-less, clothed and swaddled!!!!  The doctors decided to remove his canula all together and see how he would react.  At first he was ok, but ended up having some difficulty.  Since his nose was really irritated from the canula, they decided to use an apparatus that was a little old fashioned:)  It was some sort of oxygen hood that they placed around him.  This have him the little humidified air that he still needed.  And it was also a great photo op for me!!!

Check out Charlie's first tent!

Charlie was also able to wear clothes - which obviously made me happy beyond belief!  He was wearing NICU "borrowed" clothes for the day, but luckily I had purchased every single preemie item Carter's made, so he would soon have a full wardrobe at his disposal.  At a certain gestational age, preemies are able to try and maintain their own temperature.  I guess Charlie had reached that and the doctors decided to bring down the temp in his isolette and layer on his clothes.  We were also able to hold him like a "big baby", swaddled up and extra snuggly:)

The bear hat was a little big:)

Charlie may seem to be getting pretty big, but compare to Daddy's giant hands:)

Enough of the pictures, PLEASE!
