We're free!
I found out I would be released on Friday and had mixed emotions.  I was excited to not be sleeping in the hospital, but could not imagine being away from Charlie. During the afternoon the decision was made to remove his breathing tube.  He did great through the procedure and was left with only breathing tubes in his nose.

We were thrilled when we went for our visit and the nurse said we could hold Charlie!  This treatment is referred to as Kangaroo Care, where parents and babies have skin to skin contact.

I was able to hold him a little over an hour - it was fantastic!

Another big milestone happened today -Charlie's breathing tube was removed!  It is something the doctor's had been debating and finally felt he was ready.  He has been breathing great on his own:)
